The Pursgloves of Wickersley - [WICK]

This is a civil parish within the borough of Rotherham.  The Church of St. Albans is the main ecclesiastical building and there is also a Roman Catholic church and a Methodist chapel.

The name comes from the Old English for a Scandinavian individual 'Víkarr' who was head of a small settlement in a woodland clearing.  This was a quarry village and a rural faming community.
