Pursgloves in Coolgardie, Western Australia

Founded in 1892 as a gold mining town, this was the base for the Australian Gold Rush. This settlement was accepted as an electoral borough in 1901.  By 1924 the town had been mostly abandoned and it was referred to as the "Mining Ghost Town".  More recently, the tourist industry has boosted the local economy and the town is again thriving.
