The Pursgloves of Stepney - [STNY]


The first record of a settlement here is when St Dunstan's church was founded in 932AD.  By Domesday, Stibanhede was owned by the Bishop of London.
In the 19th century, Stepney was used as a displacement settlement for immigrants and the poor, during the redevelopment of more profitable areas of the City.

In 1965, Stepney was taken over in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
